Training Band

The Wotton training band was launched in June 2010, headed by Solo Cornet player and music teacher, Diane Ansell.

The band continues to go from strength to strength, demonstrated by their fabulous performance at the band’s Christmas Concert.

Our congratulations go to Tilly Ansell who achieved a high merit for her grade 1 tenor horn exam.

Learners of all ages are welcome to join the group who meet every Tuesday night at 7.00 o’clock in the bandroom in Wotton-under-Edge.

The group currently numbers 12 and Diane is assisted by members of the senior band.

December News

The band played two short programmes as part of the main band Christmas Concert on Sunday 5th December.  The first performance featured Marching Tune and Les Bouffons, and the performance in the second (Christmassy) half of the performance featured Good King Wenceslas and Jingle Bells.  The audience were very appreciative and the main band are extremely proud of the progress of the training band that has only been running since June.  Congratulations go to all the players along with Diane and her main band helpers.

November News

The training band is now preparing for two short performances during the band’s annual Christmas Concert on Sunday 5th December at Kingswood Village Hall.  Tickets are priced at £5 and are available from Robinsons Florist in Wotton or from Band members.

There are now 18 regular members of Wotton Silver Training Band.  Most are aged between 8 and 12, but there are two adult members.  The rehearsals are fun but informative and beginners of all ages are welcome to join us in the bandroom in Wotton-under-Edge.

The audience was most appreciative and the band is extremely proud of the efforts of Diane and all training band members.  The concert was a marvelous achievement for a group that only held its first rehearsal on 8th June this year!  We look forward to hearing more!
