About Us
Wotton band was established in 1894. We are an established, enthusiastic and very friendly brass band. We meet twice a week for rehearsals and perform a wide variety of music, from Bach to the Beatles, original works, jazz, pop, and arrangements of music from TV, films and the West End musicals.
Our bandroom is located in the lovely town of Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire - just 10 minutes off the M5 at Junction 14, and on the edge of the Cotswolds.
The band has recently been promoted to the 1st Section, following much success in the 2nd section of the West of England Brass Band Championships - including third place in 2020 and second place in 2015. The band has also been West of England Champions of both the 3rd and 4th Sections, and enjoys attending contests throughout the year.
For those interested in learning to play a brass instrument, or developing their playing skills by playing alongside others, we have an enthusiastic and fun training band that meets every Tuesday and a beginners' / learners' band that meets every Monday. From Bandstands to Wotton Hill ...
We undertake a variety of engagements throughout the year, including indoor concerts, parks, bandstands, garden fetes, fundraising events, ceremonial days pub gardens and of course brass band contests. We always have a busy schedule, especially around Christmas where you can here us playing carols around the Gloucestershire area.
Once a year you can even hear us perform at the top of Wotton Hill in a local traditional ceremony to welcome the beginning of Spring.
